Plays & Parties

School and work seems to consume our lives, but every now and then we step outside the box ha. This weekend was alot of fun and is just the beginning to our fun-filled month. On Thursday I had a Relief Society dinner party that was so fun! We had different courses at different houses and got alot of time to just relax, eat great food, and socialize. We had appetizers at one house, and then walked to the next house for a main course and dessert. I think the whole idea is creative. Friday, we went to a dancing play called "Christmas Around The World". It's such a great play that incorporates different dancing styles from all across the world. My favorite was the Israeli dance and the Irish dancing. Ty and I both loved the bagpipes. We had so much fun going to dinner with Momma and Papa Rogers and then enjoying a great show to bring us more into the Christmas spirit. On Saturday we spent some time shopping for gifts. I love going to the mall and seeing all the amazing Christmas decorations, it kinda makes me want to go all out decorating my home, but then I am brought to the realization that were still newlyweds and still poor ha! On Saturday, we went to our fabulous Ward Christmas party. Dinner was amazing and the company was great. We both love our ward so much and the many relationships we have made with them. Near the end of the night of each of our activities this week, there was a great message given. This season is truly a time to serve each other and remember our savior and the blessing of his birth. I am so grateful for Tyler and my family. The gospel blesses our lives in so many ways and this Christmas season is such a touching time of the year. It's a time for love, remembrance, and faith. Happy Holidays!

Roger's Update

Time sure does fly! Ty and I have been married for almost 4 months now! We have both been really busy trying to finish up our fall semester, which ends December 17th. We sure do love the holiday season though. Thanksgiving is coming soon and we will be spending it at Tyler's grandparents. They are so great! There is a few things we have been doing on the weekends to help us not go insane with all the school work we do. Like babysitting ha, BYU football games, group dates, and Christmas shopping! Tyler is still serving in the Sunday school presidency and I'm teaching the Sunbeams.. 9 of them! ahhh! It's such an amazing blessing though and I absolutely love them all. For the month of December we have a lot of fun activities planned to keep ourselves alittle grounded from so much school. We have play tickets to "A Christmas Carol", concert tickets to "Christmas Around the World" , a ward Christmas party, and family Christmas parties! Not only that, were leaving for Oregon December 18th for a 10 day vacation with my family! I'm so excited to get away from school for alittle and relax with my sisters and family. I am kinda nervous to drive during the winter season but I think everything will work out. So as you can guess, were spending Christmas with my family this year. With all these fun activities planned time is going to fly by. But we both need to focus and finish this semester strong. Hopefully Tyler can get through the last few weeks of anatomy and I can get through 7 finals in three days! Oh well, life is beautiful and we are happier than ever!

21st Birthday & A Rockstar Halloween

October 30th was my 21st Birthday! Yay! Tyler made it a really great day and I had alot of fun! Ty took the day off so we had the whole day to sleep in and do whatever I wanted. That morning we went for a run, relaxed, opened present, went to lunch, and then went to the mall! I love the mall so it was a great day. I got alot of great gifts from my sisters and family back in Oregon, I especially loved all my birthday calls and texts throughout the day. That night Tyler and the family went to dinner at PF Chaing's and had a really fun time at dinner and afterwards doing the cake and ice cream thing. I loved it! Tyler got me a cute sweater I wanted, a great new hair dryer, and my black boots I wanted! The best part was getting to be with Tyler the whole day without out work or school on the mind. Tyler was so cute putting the cake and presents all together and organizing everything so it was perfect. He is so amazing and made my birthday perfect, I love him so much! I pretty sure I snatched the best husband in the world!

Well Halloween night was a blast! Ty and I dressed up as RockStar's! All day we did errands here and there and studied for tests as usual, but the night was definitely left for a fun night with friends. Tyler had some amazing make up, tattoo sleeves, and piercings. He reminded me of the drummer from Blink 182 ha. I had alot of fun fluffing my hair, putting on snake skin pants, and rocking make-up. We went to a RockStar Party that my friend Keely Spencer put on with some of her girlfriends. Everyone dressed up and looked awesome! We played Rockband, ate tons of good food, listen to music, played games, and rocked out!! I think my favorite part was all Ty's singing ha, I think he had a really good time pretending to be a RockStar for a night. I know i had alot of fun with all my hot Rocker Chicks and my sexy husband! What a great weekend and Halloween celebration!

Pumpkin Carving Contest

Wow! Halloween time already? The Holiday's are coming fast and I absolutely love it! This weekend we went with a couple of my good friends from school and had dinner before our big pumpkin carving contest. After a huge debate between Chili's and Applebee's, we finally decided on Chili's ha. Afterward we all headed to Wal-Mart to pick our winning pumpkin's. I'm pretty sure we all thought we were picking the winning pumpkin. As we all headed over to Karolyn Kessler's for the evening events, the trash talking began ha. We were all making sure to keep our ideas a secret and all trying to find out each others ideas. The rules were that we couldn't use stencils and there was one pumpkin for each couple. There were tons of great ideas! We had an owl, Frankenstein, traditional pumpkin, smoker pumpkin and snowboarding logo pumpkin ( ha I think Jessica and Ryan missed the Halloween theme). Tyler was a great sketcher and drew an amazing owl. We had so much fun cleaning and carving the pumpkin together. I think everyone had a great time. But the moment of truth came when Karolyn's brother and sister came out for the judging of the pumpkins. Needless to say, we took 1st place! yay! The competitive streak in me came out and i could help but cheer for us ha. We decided to keep the Pre-Halloween night going by watching a scary movie in Karolyn's home theater. "What Lies Beneath" was pretty scary and I know Jessica was dying! I pretty sure we all were alittle freaked out, Tyler was jumping alot ha. We had so much fun and it was just the beginning to the Holiday celebrations to come!

Dental Hygiene School At UCDH

Finally being in Dental Hygiene School is awesome! Going through college and never seeing an end with prerequisites was so frustrating. But when I finally got accepted into the Bachelor's program at Utah College of Dental Hygiene, I was so excited! This year has been awesome! The 5 semester program is so intense but totally worth it. This first semester we are taking alot of classes and have clinic 2 and 1/2 hours a day, where we basically are going over setup, take-down, doing health history, and positioning with patients. We don't start actually working with the public until next semester, but that's fine with me because I need all the practice I can get before I actually work with a patient! Near the end of this semester, we will being working on each other. The 9 classes I'm taking love to loads us with lots of homework and stress us out even more with midterms all month long. I feel pretty good about it though, because it's actually something I want to know. Being in the same classroom 4 days a week, 8 hours a day is kind of a drag, but all the amazing girls make it way fun. This semester I sit next to Kelsey Thornton, who is total doll and I'm glad I get to sit by someone I can talk to during our "amazing" spanish class ha. We all have alot of fun and work together really well. I think some of the best times are 1. my lunch dates with Julianne, Jessica, and Karolyn and 2. working in clinic with my group, avoiding all contact with the "power tripped" Clinic Instructors ha. Not only am I semesters away from my dream career, there are tons of perks! I've gotten free Sonicare toothbrushes, Oral-B toothbrushes, and tons of discounts... and I'm learning more than I have ever before and I actually love what I'm learning. I'm most excited about graduating April 23, 2011 and least excited to 1. be stressed out to take Boards and 2. for summer semester where we practice giving injections on each other! ahhh! Oh well, I'll climb that hill when it comes, but as for now I'm loving life!

BYU FoOtBalL GaMeS

We finally got the chance to go to some of the BYU football games these last couple of weeks. We went to the Colorado State game, even though we weren't that excited after BYU chocked against Florida State and lost the excitement of being in the top ten. It was still a lot of fun to go and eat those frozen lemonades and hang out with the wifey. We had a really good time despite the fact the sun was cooking us alive. The next week was much better against Utah State because the game was late and under the lights. it wasn't the most exciting game to watch because BYU was still playing sloppy. They just don't wanna show up to play after that loss. There was a man behind us who had something to say about everything so that was pretty entertaining. The team did have some really good plays and we did have a lot of fun though. we went and bought some BYU apparel before the game because Z wanted to take some pictures and she was getting all excited about it. I have never been one to buy BYU apparel, but i did it for her. ha I think we created a good tradition of sports that i am proud of creating considering Z has never been to a sporting event past high school sports. Good times.

Fishing In The River

Labor day weekend was really fun. Since Ty and I both went back to school, it was nice having a three day weekend so we can slowly adjust to weeks of school. Saturday we watched the BYU vs. Oklahoma game... all day. I come to realize this is what most Saturday's will be like until football season is over! Since BYU got spanked last weekend by Florida, I'm feeling pretty good about weening Tyler off football ha. I don't think that will happen so i think I'll just go buy myself a cougars shirt and join him on the couch. Anyway, back to the fun weekend. Sunday was a usual Sunday. There my favorite day because it's a great reason to why i am going to be lazy all day and do nothing. On that note, Tyler got called as Sunday school counselor, another name would be " not have to do much" ha. I got called to teach the 3-4 year old Sunbeams in primary! They are so cute and it's always an adventure trying to teach them a lesson, but it's good for me i guess. We have a great ward and we really like living in this area. I guess Monday is actually where the fun really began ha. We went up to Park City to the outlet malls and shopped! ahh i loved it! The weather was really nice and we spent time doing what i love to do! It was funny though because i was looking for a specific clothing item all day and never found it and we ended up buying Ty something! Oh well. On the way back, we stopped along the Provo River and decided to go fishing. We had brought our fishing poles and bought some lures up in Heber. I seriously doubted that we would catch something but we caught two big trout! I was amazed! I had never fished with just a lure, I'm a worm, sitting in a boat, eating, and letting my grandpa do the work kinda girl ha. But Ty proved me wrong and we did have a blast. The whole day was great, except now Ty's not only addicted to football, he always wants to go fishing now! Gotta love it.
I think mine is bigger! One studdly fisherman!
